The Institute
Lech Wałęsa.
A Global Health Initiative.
Lech Wałęsa was the leader of Poland's Solidarity Movement, which helped guide the nation from communist rule to democracy. In recognition of his efforts, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and later became the first President of post-communist Poland.
The Lech Wałęsa Institute, now led by his eldest son, Bogdan Wałęsa, believes that the lessons learned from the Solidarity Movement can be applied to major global challenges today. One such challenge is the development of a Global Health Initiative aimed at eliminating petroleum-based plastics from all food packaging.
The Institute has issued a statement outlining its perspective on this effort.
